Designer names: Lily Parker and Ben Grimes
Origin: Lily is from Norfolk whilst Ben is from North London.
Career highlight: “Seeing our collection in Browns Focus for the first time this season.”
Design background: “Before setting up LP.BG, Lily worked for Ebru Ercon, Richard Nicoll, Poltock & Walsh and Henry Holland whilst Ben modeled for 10 years for labels including Chanel, Burberry, Richard Nicoll and Marc Jacobs. Lily completed a post graduate course in pattern cutting for industry at London College of Fashion.”
What are your design signatures? “Boyish cuts with feminine tailoring. A twist on modern classics.”
How would you describe you describe the LP.BG woman? “She is actually still a child within, she merges classiness with childishness. Our collection will give girls a moment of adult elegance and the opportunity to feel strong and confident even when they’re not on the inside.”
Name three things that are inspiring you for autumn/winter 2010: “Mods, Lucy Chadwick and Peter Lindbergh.”
What encapsulates London fashion for you? “Brick Lane on a Sunday attracts a complete cross section of society. For us, London is about a mash-up of cultures and backgrounds, which we find very exciting. There’s such a freedom of expression that gives way to creativity.”
What do you hope the new decade will mean for your brand? “We hope for continued growth, success, many international stockists and to completely establish the brand so it is well recognised.”
How does London influence your designs? “We love the toughness and fierceness of Londoners. From the rude girls to the pin-up girls, they have complete dedication to their look and lifestyle. London people desire a level of functionality that’s still aesthetically pleasing.”
