On Thursday 13th September, The Green Carpet Challenge co-founders Livia Firth and Lucy Siegle in collaboration with American Express, launched Green Cut. Green Cut is a unique initiative which pairs eight seminal fashion designers with eight iconic British films to raise awareness of a sustainable approach to fashion design. Designers including Antonio Berardi, Jonathan Saunders and Roksanda Ilincic, created bespoke pieces which offered a contemporary take on a classic film. The collection is on show for the duration of London Fashion Week as part of The Exhibition, 14th - 18th September.

London's spring/summer 2013 NEWGEN designers were announced at Somerset House on Monday 18th June 2012. BFC CEO Caroline Rush welcomed press and buyers with NEWGEN panel member Mel Rickey (Fashion Editor at Large) and Topshop MD Mary Homer. As part of London Collections: Women, the winning designers showcased their designs for the rest of the afternoon in the East Wing of Somerset House.

Samantha Cameron hosted a reception to celebrate London Fashion Week at 10 Downing Street for members of the fashion industry on Tuesday 21st February. Anna Wintour thanked Sir Philip Green in honour of his 10 years of NEWGEN support.

As part of this season's Fash/On Film showcase, TEST Presents hosted a special screening of the London preview of the Diana Vreeland documentary 'The Eye Has To Travel' on Saturday February 18th. Author and director Lisa Immordino Vreeland introduced the film and participated in a post-screening Q&A session with the audience.

The launch of Rock Vault, a brand new jewellery initiative to support, showcase and promote Britain's most innovative, fine jewellery talent, took place on Saturday 18th February. Rock Vault is curated by Stephen Webster and sponsored by the International Palladium Board.

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, Farida Kaikobad, Brand Director of River Island and the panel of Fash/On Film hosted a champagne reception to launch the BFC's new fashion film initiative sponsored by River Island on Friday 17th February.

Milliners showing with the Headonism initiative at The Exhibition at Somerset House - Charlie Le Mindu, J. Smith Esquire, Noel Stewart, Piers Atkinson and William Chambers - were celebrated on Friday 17th February. Headonism is a British Fashion Council initiative curated by Stephen Jones, recognising the new wave of emerging London milliners. It is supported by Royal Ascot.

Harold Tillman CBE and Sir Philip Green opened London Fashion Week on Friday February 17th 2012. They took the opportunity to launch the 'Future of Fashion - Strategic Considerations for Growth' report and announced Topshop's plan to extend sponsorship of NEWGEN for another 10 years.
