Airside catwalk event in T5 store showcases the best of new British design talent
Fashion is the word on everybody’s lips this week, with London Fashion Week in full, flamboyant swing! As part of their own ‘Love Fashion’ activity, World Duty Free is staging the very first airside fashion event to showcase the work of recent graduates from the acclaimed London College of Fashion. The fashion show will take place throughout the day on Friday 25th September, as a fitting sign off to London Fashion Week. Many of those involved in the week’s events will undoutedly be passing through the airport on the day and have the opportunity to see first hand, the stunning creations of three fashion graduates.
Graduates Kirsti Mairie, Nadine Coke and Zsofia Weber were chosen from the brightest young talent in the world of fashion by Mr Harold Tillman; the Chairman of the British Fashion Council and also a former student of the London College of Fashion. Fashion TV are working in close partnership with World Duty Free and the London College of Fashion on this event and will be filming and broadcasting the designers’ creations to a UK wide audience.
Each of the graduate designers will show a limited collection in the flagship World Duty Free store in Heathrow’s T5. Their collections will focus on evening wear and sophisticated day wear, to appeal to the particular customer profile of Terminal 5. The collections will be worn by professional models and a catwalk has been installed within the World Duty Free store infront of it’s striking ‘Wonderwall’ of giant digital plasma screens. The fashion shows will also be shown on the various large format plasma screens located throughout Heathrow, enabling customers in all areas of T5 to enjoy the show.
The Graduate Designers
Kirsti Mairie is an exciting new British talent, who launched her own label with the first ever catwalk show across London’s Millennium Bridge! She specialises in elaborate seamwork, mixed with richly textured fabrics and luxe metallics to create showstopping and elegant garments.
Nadine Coke is the founder of La Belle Neri – a luxury beachwear brand. She creates elaborate and sensuous beachwear and is inspired by vibrant colours and tribal costumes and jewellery. Her designs are cut with absolute precision to ensure the perfect fit and are the ultimate in beach chic.
Zsofia Weber has already established herself as a fashion designer to watch. Her signature premiere collections won the Graduate Fashion Show ‘Dewhirst Best Catwalk Collection Award’ in 2008 and aroused the interest of influential fashion magazines such as Vogue, WGSN and Elle US. Her garments represent modern interpretations of classic looks.
