Career highlight: “working for myself."

Design background: Sonya studied footwear design for four years at Cordwainers. She then completed an MA in accessories at London College of Fashion. Before setting up her own label, she designed trainers for labels including Acupuncture and Decathlon.

Design signatures: “Traditional but contemporary accessories that are both wearable and fashionable, with the added bonus of sustainability. We focus on developing shapes that are organic and individual in their styling.”
    
How would you describe the Sonya Kashmiri woman? “Confident in her own independent style. She buys for quality but not necessarily for a branded name.”

Name three things that are inspiring you for spring/summer 2011: “I am always inspired by nature, organic shapes and detailing.”

What is your brand philosophy? “To create contemporary accessories with a sustainable focus, both in working practices and materials.”

How do you see the brand moving forward and developing? “I aim to increase brand awareness through collaborations and promotions and to sell at selected department outlets. This is as well as e-commerce through my own website, from September this year.”

What's new for you this season? “More colour.”
