Designer name: Omar Kashoura

Origin: Kashoura is originally from Leeds but has a mixed heritage.

Career highlight: “Most definitely my recent collaboration with the Turkish brand Tween for the coming autumn/winter 2010 season.”

Design background: Kashoura studied for his BA at London College of Fashion and then completed his MA at Central Saint Martins. He worked at Preen plus a short stint at Unconditional before setting up his own label.

Design signatures: “I guess you could say it’s directional with intricate details and ways of finishing. It’s most definitely masculine with pieces that are fun and beautifully crafted.”

How would you describe the Omar Kashoura man? “Any chap with an eye for quality and a love of colour.”

Name three things that are inspiring you for spring/summer 2011: “Relaxed ambition; a return to early morals with camaraderie and make-do-and-mend; primary colours.”

What encapsulates fashionable London for you? “It has to be the Arts Club on Dover Street. The professionals’ evenings that they hold are quite something.”

What do you hope the new decade will mean for your brand? “I hope for successful brand developments and most definitely greater awareness of my product.”

How does London influence your designs? “London fills my hard drive with so much information, from the smells to the architecture and of course the people. I’m never left without a new question or problem to solve within my thoughts.”
