Emesha
Designer name: Emesha Nagy
Origin: Hungary
Career highlight: “A feature about EMESHA on Vogue.it.”
Design background: Emesha studied at the London College of Fashion. She worked for Vivienne Westwood and Jasper Conran before setting up her own label.
Design signatures: “Feminine yet casual with exaggerated proportions and huge pockets.”
How would you describe the Emesha woman? “My ideal customer is between 25-35, a young professional working in the creative industry. She is fashion conscious and environmentally aware; she recycles at home. She either buys her clothes at luxury department stores or in trendy boutiques, and recently on the internet too. She is concerned about the environment and would like to wear eco-friendly clothes but is frustrated by the lack of choice. My customer looks for wearable, stylish, yet environmentally friendly designs, where the quality of fabrics and manufacturing are highly important.”
Name three things that are inspiring you for spring/summer 2011: “Marionette, strings and geometric shapes.”
What is your brand philosophy? “Emesha is the sporty-luxe label for the woman who does not want to compromise on style and quality. Experimental pattern cutting, draping and crisp tailoring techniques are combined to create clean silhouettes and feminine looks. Emesha's mission is to create eco-friendly, fashion forward, luxury womenswear. The brand is part of the slow fashion movement.”
How do you see the brand moving forward and developing? “I aim to grow the collection each season by introducing further products to the range starting with bags, belts and accessories. By growing the brand I will be creating jobs within the industry and will contribute to projects with other ethical brands and like minded organisations. I would also like to demonstrate that it is possible to create very high quality garments by using sustainable and ethically produced fabrics, l have shown that this is possible. I see the impact fashion has, by its sheer global scope, on the environment. I want to be part of the change needed in the industry to look for new resources and processes that do not have a negative impact on our planet.
I would like to establish my company on an international level and expand the label into other product lines. As an ethical brand, my company's growth will increase the influence of ethical fashion in the industry, and create more opportunities for fair employment that will provide people along the production chain with an honourable and secure future.”
What's new for you this season? “A magazine which will be featured on the website shortly.”
