Cabinet

Gemma Critchley & Zara BragancaDesigners name: Gemma Critchley and Zara Braganca

Origin: "With a multifaceted family heritage, our backgrounds have always prompted us to travel into both the past and present. The Cabinet studio, now based in the South West, continuously leads us back to our intrinsically British roots with a keen sense of adventure."

Career highlight: "Our first call in from Vogue, I think you’ll always remember that feeling!"  Design signatures: "Effortlessly wearable with connotations of edgy, eccentric fashion."

How would you describe the Cabinet woman? "She knows her style and how to interpret her personal take on fashion. Cabinet is all about being independent and wearing jewellery which is both playful and sophisticated. Independent and driven, the Cabinet woman is confident and knows just what she is looking for. Not afraid to wear colour and always happy to be a little daring; free spirited with a considered edge, true luxury which can be worn for upbeat, everyday glamour."

What is inspiring you for spring/summer 2011? "Tropical ornithology meets Brigitte Bardot. The designs have botanical undertones – flashes of sun-bleached brights cascade onto faded neutrals - whilst colonial militaria prompt historical references and timeless legends."

What is your brand philosophy? "Let Cabinet be a theatre to play out your own personal style. Inspired by a lasting appreciation for fashion, where longevity is integral, Cabinet draw upon an eccentric collection of found objects combined with artisan skills to reinvent forgotten facets of our own personal history."

How do you see the brand moving forward and developing? "With a growing fan base and continuous press features, Cabinet looks to develop steadily while standing by our brand ethos. With forthcoming collaboration projects it looks to be an exciting year to explore and evolve."

What’s new for this season? "Continuing to reinvent our antique dress collars alongside beautiful, oversized charm necklaces and minimalist, braided pendants. There will be geometric shapes and military inspired elements."
