DESIGNER NAME: Anna Skodbo

BACKGROUND: Originally from the UK, Anna studied costume design and theatre make-up and worked as a freelancer in Norway before moving back to Britain to do a degree in Fashion. She graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a first class honours degree and launched her label six months later during London Fashion Week AW11. She has since presented collections each season in London and Paris.

SIGNATURES: “Hand printed and dyed textiles, a modern sense of feminine beauty through the use of anti-fit cutting alongside more traditional body shaping; a nod to androgyny.”

IDEAL CLIENT: “Gritty, dynamic, outgoing, fun-loving women who want to stand out from the crowd. These ladies take great care in their outward appearance and are environmentally aware, but will not compromise on style.”

THE COLLECTION: “Refraction is inspired by the people who hold our city together. Those who work through the night on our roads, deliver our post, make sure our children cross the roads safely, clear our rubbish, keep the peace. Imagine a dark wintry night in London. Lamplight is glistening off frozen cars, high-visibility reflective clothing and frozen breath hanging in the air. You hear the clink of tools and the sound of a siren in the distance. The snow isn't white, apart from on the tops of walls, but rather furrows of wet grey. There are definite elements of complete genderlessness and practicality in these garments”.

CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “I am constantly inspired by London. More so the gritty side, although all cultural elements serve to inspire me to improve and evolve.”
