Newgen

New Generation - SEPTEMBER 2009 APPLICATION

GENERAL INFORMATION

The BFC New Generation sponsorship scheme was set up in 1993 to support the emerging designers at London Fashion Week. New Gen is recognised internationally and has helped launch the careers of some of Britain’s top designers, including Alexander McQueen, Clements Ribeiro, Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald and Sophia Kokosalaki.

The latest group of designers whose careers have been launched by New Gen include Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh, Giles, Marios Schwab and Todd Lynn.

New Gen support is available as sponsorship for a fashion show on schedule during London Fashion Week and/or a stand at the Exhibition @ LFW. Support is usually available for up to three seasons and applications will only be accepted from those who have been in business for three years or less.

Applications are considered by a selection panel of senior fashion editors and buyers.

Successful applicants are featured in London Fashion Week’s publications and website and in press releases issued by the British Fashion Council in the run up to London Fashion Week. The specially designed New Gen area is one of the highlights of the Exhibition @ LFW.
